About The Artwork
Visuddha , throat chakra, akasha or ether element. This refers to the vibratory element that is the most subtle in the material world and invisible. I had my friend Devaki , a professional bharathi dancer, dress in her best sari and jewellery so that we could do some studio shots and I could get my goddess Shakti, the residing deity in this chakra. Devaki was great and when I dropped her into the mountain scene that I shot on the incredible road to Badrinath on the Chinese Indian border adding in some radiance, with the throat chakra petals and symbols I knew I had another Image in the can without too many creative dead ends, headaches and cul de sacs. I love the veil across Devaki’s face created by the landscape overlay, it’s like the veil of illusion that permeates the physical realm. She is also arising from the chhatris or cenotaphs in Orchha, a stunning landscape in Madhya Pradesh.

I was born in Trinidad and Tobago and travelled all over the world with my parents before settling in The UK for my education. I went to Sherborne School and Reading University before moving to London to be a photographic assistant to many different photographers including Anthony Blake and Spencer Rowell. Then I moved to Australia to further my career in photography that is now 35 years long as a commercial and art photographer in Sydney. I have had several exhibitions including Transformation 1992, Lifeforce 1996, Sahaja 2000, and have completed new spiritual works, The Chakras, 2014 that are shown here on Saatchi Art. I now also teach photography with Alfonso Photo tours in Sydney. I have two websites, Chrisljonesphoto.com for commercial and sahajaprints.com for prints.
