Fabienne Verdier was the first artist to introduce me to abstract art in 2014. First of all, I had a connection with Asia because I did Bonsai. His work, freed from all superfluity, spontaneous, was a graphic shock. Then I discovered the New York School, abstract expressionist art, Jackson Pollock, Joann Mitchell, Willem De Kooning who struck me with the power of their work. As I said previously, Asia, more precisely Japan, is a country that inspires me enormously. I discovered the Gutaï movement there. Artistic movement which aims to bring matter to life. In another register of inspiration, I can tell you about Gustave Klimt who was a major discovery during my youth, Egon Shiele, the Die bruke movement. I also like the pre-Raphaelites, surrealism and even impressionism. The Scandinavian painters also with Albert Edelfelt too. However, my references are not limited to painting. nature, comics, music, poetry, philosophy, are also sources of inspiration, as well as what surrounds me directly or indirectly. I am also a musician/composer and poet. I am an independent artist, it is a way for me to respond to my visceral and radical need to create. For me, creating is a vector of wisdom and self-knowledge. It’s a lifelong quest. This allows me to step back and be a spectator of the world around me. It allows me to put down roots in a space of time sheltered from the world. Being an artist allows me to sublimate my fears, my anxieties. I like to explore and test the different mediums available to me. What I want to convey as an emotion is contemplation. I want to go against the pace of the world around us. I hope that my work allows the client to take the time. Return to a natural rhythm. Spontaneity is also a major ingredient in my works. Indeed it offers a touch of energy which combines power and the radiance of life. My work is a work of gesture, I try to make my painting vibrate and bring it to life.
