About The Artwork

An ongoing series of A4 images that aim to encapsulate every year of civilisation using the golden section in each image. The golden section has been used by artists and architects since the Renaissance, as well as in the analysis of financial markets, to give the correct proportions to be the most aesthetically pleasing. The work itself is a reaction to the supposed all seeing, all knowing Google and the fountain of 21st century knowledge that is Wikipedia. From Ape to Adam to Apocalypse is also an allegory for the artistic process itself. The artist is free to depict the things they see, feel and are affected by. The artist as decision maker chooses what to leave in and what to leave out. In my grandest of moments I see myself as curating history in From Ape to Adam to Apocalypse.
