About The Artwork
Inspired by this beautiful Italian woman and challenged to create a story around a traditional standing live model pose, I turned her support stick to a Venetian “Pali di Casada” [the striped and colorful poles that line the canals in Venice, Italy. I then later added (in a spiral composition that felt right) the gondola, the domed church and designed model Valentina's shadow to resemble a wave.
