Alejandro S. Villagran is an artist and graphic designer originally from Mexico currently residing in Austin TX. Their work consists of multi/mix media, from digital design to pencil drawing, taking reference from pop culture and highlighting queer representation. Their pieces are developed as a way to disconnecting from the digital side of their work, and putting all of their energy and feelings into their craft. From the artist: As humans sometimes our thoughts and emotions can lead to uncertainty and a doomed view of reality, to me it’s important to put the energy of the working mind into a creative outlook. The process of these pieces is to take part of a mindset that makes me forget about the chaos in the daily life, remember that my mind is not always right and that it is ok to not have a lot of thoughts sometimes, give my consciousness a rest while I put everything I feel into my work. The colorful and delicate touch in my work is the purest form of reconnecting with my inner child and redefining what it all means in regards to my identity, regardless of the circumstances around us and a reminder that it is something no one can take away.
