ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In my childhood I've been drawing comics for many years, some of them publishing them in schoolmagazines. My interest in comics has never disappeared. Hergé (Tintin) is one of my favorites. On the other hand I'm trying to give the frame (which is needed to protect the drawing) a more substantive role. And last but not least I was, due to the 'De Stijl-year 2017 challenged to make some images based on dutch architect Gerrit Rietveld. This is a kind of fulfilled entry.

Ever since I can remember I'm drawing although I had no examples whatsoever in my childhood. I grew up on a small farm near Venlo in the the south of the Netherlands. The urge to draw finally lead to the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming Tilburg where I graduated in 1990 in drawing and painting.From that time on I am working on a collection mostly dominated by chairs depicted in very different ways. Perspective and perception are crucial elements in this never ending quest. These works are drawn with pencil or painted with watercolor. Still driven by my urge to draw.
