Scott Reed was born and raised in beautiful San Diego California, so environment was built in from the moment he took his first breath! However, it was not until he relocated to the Sierra Foothills in northern California that his artistic drive became a reality. His livelihood was Hospitality Design, he had an innate ability to organize space & function within the confines of a budget, a talent most restaurateur's desperately need but rarely utilize... He loves to take square footage and shape it into a lively, interesting place. From the mundane his art began to take shape. Growing up he was encouraged by his Mother to explore the arts, they would go to museums during the summer and discuss balance, color & texture of the paintings. His mother was an exceptional artist and musician. They would draw and paint together and she was always encouraging about his work. She was particularly influenced by the Plein Air style and did have lessons with Maurice Braun in her early years. So she encouraged Scott toward impressionism and abstract expressionism as he approached painting. However, his Dad won out directing him to basketball and business. His first painting was created for one of his wife's Interior Design clients. She needed a specific color and size for an entryway. She found the perfect image but not in the right colors. So she asked him if he might be able to paint one for the project. Well, he did. Not only was it fantastic, it woke the sleeping creative giant inside. Next it was the living room, then the family room, then another project, then friends, then corporate settings. The painting's were done on canvas, wood, old doors. He loves to fill large walls with color and texture.
