About The Artwork
Environmentally friendly paintings made from kimonos. Japanese cultural heritage. Made from the fabric of the kimono , I sewed Nagajyuban . It was made by myself. While I used to use oil paint and tempera in my work, I've recently become interested in using urushi lacquer, inspired by my love of kimonos. I've begun a project to upcycle second-hand kimonos, using the fabric as a canvas while retaining the traditional patterns and shape of the garment. My additional purpose is to share the beauty of my cultural heritage with future generations and promote sustainability in fashion.
