ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Loosely based on Cabo Finisterre on the Spanish Atlantic coast, literally "the end of the world" in ancient times. The scallop shell is the iconic symbol of the Camino de Santiago that ends at the titled location. I knew none of this until a friend mentioned that it reminded her of the pilgrimage she had taken to this very place. It seemed a fitting description. High quality acrylics on durable hardwood panel. Contemporary natural oak frame and ready to hang.

I worked in the field of commercial arts for many years, primarily as a visual identity artist and sign maker. While I enjoyed that work, I had always longed to tap into my own personal creativity. I'm happy to say that I'm now at a place that I can devote as much time and energy as I want to exploring that landscape. I'm self taught as a fine artist, however, the business of specialized sign fabrication provided me a goldmine of skills and learned techniques that have contributed greatly to my creative expression. As a result, I have naturally gravitated towards mixed media work. I have a strong connection to the natural world and am drawn to the beauty of landscapes, especially the the southwest. But I also have a desire to go inside, to explore the subconscious workings of creativity through symbolic imagery, the function of myth and the elusive freedom of abstract expression. Spirit plays a big part, as well as the question of what makes us human, so really, for me, it's a journey of self discovery. All that aside, I've been doing this for my own enjoyment for awhile now, I sell and gift a few pieces here and there, but I feel fortunate that I have the independence to create as I please, free from the needs and trends of the marketplace. Most of my paintings are done with high quality acrylics on rigid wood panel and are especially durable. I try to keep them affordable and be assured that all my works are signed and authentically original.
