About The Artwork

Amalek was a nation described in Torah as a staunch enemy of the Israelites. They harassed Jews during their Exodus from Egypt and attacked them at Rephidim near Mount Sinai, where they were defeated by Joshua. They were among the nomadic raiders defeated by Gideon and were condemned to annihilation by Samuel. Their final defeat occurred in the time of Hezekiah. It is a positive command to constantly remember their evil deeds and ambush, to arouse hatred for them, as the verse states, "Remember what Amalek did to you". This painting illustrates the command and symbolizes futility of hate and revenge as vehicles of human history. It is painted on finest linen with highest-grade professional paints with addition of purified sand and covered with UV-protective varnish. Canvas Is gallery-wrapped, so painting can be hung without frame.
