Dramatic sky and a shaft of sunlight, create atmosphere in this autumnal oil painting. Begun 'en plein air' near Rushmere Pond on Wimbledon Common, this landscape was completed in my studio (the weather was a little unpredictable to stay outside painting!). Loose and expressive brushstrokes add drama to the sky, whilst the warm red and brown tones in the foreground, receding to cooler greens and greys, create depth. Painted with Michael Harding Professional oil colours on a stretched Italian canvas. The edges are painted white (please see additional photograph), and it is ready to hang. It is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Ready to hang. This artwork will be carefully wrapped for shipping in tissue paper, foam board and bubble wrap, then placed in sturdy cardboard box.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions. March 2019 - Two pieces shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition.
