Native American Settlement is a four panel painting . Each panel is 20" in height and 10 " in width. All together it is a 40" width by 20 " height piece of artwork. The Native Americans have always been the people of America at a time when the land was pristine and untouched. They were more of a hunter gather nomadic tribe that lived in the forests close to the rivers. They learnt to hunt and gather the food that was available to the in this pristine wilderness and to live a very simple but fulfilling life. They built their houses called teepees or wigwams of the hide of the animals that they hunted. These people and their ways of life has always fascinated me and I would like me audience to have a peek into the lives of this long lost tribe.

The inclination towards painting and art was a natural transition. Being the daughter of an Architect who was an extraordinary artist himself meant that Ritina was exposed to drawings, precision, structure and expression of art from a very young age. Though, she did engage in painting during her academic years, it was more of a hobby and pass time activity whenever she needed to empty her mind and relax, which just faded away unknowingly as if pushed to the back burner. During her formative years, she engaged in a great deal of painting techniques, like fabric painting, art on pottery, and wooden surfaces, all just a source of enjoyment. It wasn’t till very recent times that she really started pursuing this passion seriously. Her works of art have been sold and gifted to a lot of her friends and family. The recent years have been an interesting journey, where she looks back and see’s the transformation of an amateur to a more professional level as an artist. However, the more interesting part has been her enjoying every single moment of this journey. The more she learns, the more she realizes, how much she does not know about the infinite spectrum of art! Living in the peaceful town of Tennessee, USA, has been a blessing, as it has let Ritina explore and express her creativity through every new piece of art she creates. Losing track of time when engrossed in art is so very true for this artist, who toils for perfection, by giving each piece of artwork her true heart and soul. So rightly said in her own words – “Each piece of my artwork is like a piece of me being reflected through it. They are me in the form of a painting.” Guess it is true that when passion becomes profession, you never work again! A self-taught artist, with no training in the field of art and painting, she has reached her present level of skill through practice and watching other artists at work on the internet. She enjoys using various surfaces, mediums and textures for painting and is always keen to try out something new. Doing commissioned artwork is a challenge which gives her an opportunity to stretch her limits even further. Recently, she ventured into portrait painting too, which is a whole new arena by itself. Basically, her preferred medium has always been acrylics, due to its speedy drying time. Sometimes the use of oils, where blending and creating textures, has always been simpler, also indulges her.
