"Point of No Return" is the newest painting from the Fires series. The whole collection of works is about the climate crisis that has massive and devastating fires as its consequence. This painting was done after, more precisely - inspired by a photo of fires in California. It doesn't show the direct image of fire but the nearby area that is affected by smoke and the red/pink color that dominates the scenery. In the upper part of the canvas is a quote by the famous writer Franz Kafka - From a certain point onward there is no longer any turning back. The quote highlights the urgency of the moment and the narrow window of time we have left to prevent climate change to escalate further. From a technical standpoint, the painting is done on a canvas, the first layer was painted with acrylic paint, and the following ones with oil paint. I often use acrylics in the first layer in order to shorten the drying time. But I further use oils because of the nice blending effects they have, as well as the transparency they provide.

Serbia
Contemporary artist living in Belgrade, Serbia. I received my Bachelor and Master Degrees at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. During my studies, I had spent one year at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. A member of the Serbian Art Association (ULUS) I have been interested in art ever since I can remember. As I was growing up I dipped my toe in lots of things, ballet, piano, singing, writing... At the age of twelve I met one elderly painter who fascinated me and gave me some lessons in painting. Becoming an artist was my dream at that time. I find inspiration for my work everywhere, in so many amazing artists both from art history and from contemporaries worldwide. Nature is also very important, especially plants with their juicy little details. But most of my inspiration, or what drives me comes from work itself. The more I paint or draw the more new ideas I have. When it comes to mediums and techniques, I mostly paint with oil colors on canvas. I find the oil technique to be the best medium for my urban landscapes. It has great flow and transparency which helps me depict the motion of the city's busy life and to work in layers. As for drawing I absolutely love it! I find it the most sincere of all techniques, where the artist is who he is. I use practically every medium or technique but ink is my favorite medium because it requires patience and focus and with it, I can really emphasize the details. I have had eleven solo shows and counting. I participated in a number of group shows, workshops, art camps and won the award at the Biennale of student drawing Serbia. My work is to be found in small private collections, in Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Serbia. If you are interested or have any questions about my work don't hesitate to ask me, I will be happy to answer.
