Svetlana Kiisky is a Latvian painter whose work has been exhibited in Russia, Italy, Latvia, Canada, and other countries. She lives and works in Riga. Her painting grows out of ordinary life. Svetlana is drawn to small, almost unnoticed moments — familiar situations, fleeting gestures, simple presences. What might seem insignificant at first often becomes the starting point for her work. She is interested in the human figure and in the quiet expressiveness of a person. For her, painting is a form of association and communication rather than storytelling or illustration. Meaning appears not through plot, but through subtle relationships between figure, space, and mood. Svetlana works primarily with oil paint. Her artistic language is close to expressionism, though restrained and personal, allowing emotion to emerge without exaggeration. “The simpler the plot, the truer the picture. I am interested in the beauty of a person — both inner and spiritual. Every person carries a certain kind of artistry.” Svetlana studied at the Latvian Academy of Arts. Her practice is focused mainly on figurative painting.
