This series attempts to convey a continuing concern with our human condition, the traditions in which it is represented together with a desire to connect with audiences using a subject-matter that conveys multi connotations through colour and scale in conjunction with methodology. We are all human. We all experience various happenings within our life-time; good and bad. Yet, we all bare the marks of these experiences, even if they are not all visible. Those experiences drive us forward; we evolve with change. We grow through knowledge; pasted on by others and from our own involvements with life. Particular events may mark us and have a lasting effect, which we assimilate into our life. It is only upon reflection that we become aware of how and why these happenings and influences shape the way we are. All work is hand prepared by the artist using professional products.

Francis Reynolds is a British Artist who lives and works in Cambridgeshire, England. He returned to education as a mature student in 2007 to study Fine Art. Reynolds graduated with a Fine Art BA at Loughborough University in 2012. Since graduating, Francis started a family yet still achieves regular exhibitions nationally together with instructing Art students at a local academy. His paintings are held in Private collections throughout the UK and internationally. Reynolds’ practice can be seen to be quite destructive in as far as process. However, it can be said that the passive/ aggressive nature of the paintings lends themselves to the very nature of the human condition. Reynolds’ outcomes strive to question and reinvigorate the subject; its historical and contemporary context. Together with consolidating ideas of deconstruction; an act of taking apart and rebuilding. This may also highlight the deconstruction of conventions and what is expected from representational painting. The body of work can be seen to emphasise process by exaggerating the application and meticulous methodology through thin layers of paint and blocks of colour. This functions as a way of viewing what was there from past layers, and where decisions in the reconstruction of form were made.
