SURVIVORS- NEW GREEN NAZI BOY Painting

"SURVIVORS" The entire creative process of Marco Zupone's "SURVIVORS" project stems from the image photographic, but of the “photographic” there is very little left: only a trace, a surviving element chromatic matter, a “surviving matter” to the inhuman (a head, eyes, a hand) but is a fundamental presence for understanding the stylistic code and also the history of the artist (ex analog photographer in b / W). All elements of the painting are anti-naturalistic, almost non-existent or distorted perspective, painting applied in layers of different thickness, with different techniques: in some places oil pastels in material way, in other subtle touches and watercolors, in other scratches with acrylic color and spatulas al instead of brushes. Scratches, marks on canvas as internal wounds. It seems an almost childlike art, naive or primitive and basically it is but in its fullest meaning e positive: a wanted, sought-after primitivism, art as a need or necessity. A very personal technique of collage and painting on paper - (then incorporated / pasted onto canvas for conservation and exhibition purpose) where, however, the collage loses its purely decorative dynamics and of “compositional divertissement”: these works pass to the rank of true pictorial works in how much they possess a subversive charge endowed with their own energy, almost dramatic or grotesque, made of rough, rough shapes, pure colors thrown on the material, cracks, scratches and metropolitan signs, torn figures, tribal masks, engravings printed on paper, to try to represent a contemporary pop-gothic world that brings with it cruelty brutality but also destruction energy new forms and therefore still capable of poetry and - perhaps - new life and new beauty. “Survivors” is not an example of figurative or narrative art but not even of abstract art: it is-or has the ambition to be - a "figural" project: a third way halfway between the two, one “other” possibility of the representation indicated years ago, among others, by great masters such as Bacon, and De Kooning. Clowns, vampires, demons, children, killers, elders, fallen angels, monsters: these are the protagonists of the portraits (perhaps self-portraits?) all fragile creatures, sublime and demonic, they seem survived the chaos of their own existence.
