ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Oil, acrylic, 24ct Manetti Superior Gold Leaf on birchwood - framed in a white-grained wood.  The artwork was shown at the Women's University Club in Mayfair, on July 5th, 2024, for the celebration of the King of Ashanti's Silver Jubilee. I showed six artworks at the event, alongside another contemporary artist.  The private function was held by the King's nephew, Yaw Mark Nkansah-Amoyaw with speeches about the King's collectibles from Angus Patterson -Chief Curator of Metal Works at The V&A Museum. The collectibles are held at Windsor, the V&A and The Wallace Collection.  The artwork was featured in a curated collection by Hannah Grout, Fair Coordinator - The Other Art Fair - ARTIST DROP Spring London 2024 The artwork was also shown at The Other Art Fair London Mar 2023 - Saatchi Art and also my solo show IN FLIGHT at The Hyde Gallery, Sept 2023. The Birds of Pipa 1 is a painting that captures the essence of the Brazilian coast. Part of the Brazil collection, this artwork is a testament to my passion for this beautiful country. I traveled the coast of Brazil for months and the diversity of the country with its tropical flora and fauna was breathtaking. I painted a single hummingbird that injects a burst of color, set against a backdrop of acrylic wash and vibrant botanical work on birchwood. I use birchwood as you can see the grains of the wood through washes of paint, which brings the artwork closer to nature. The vibrant oils of which the hummingbird is painted, contrast with the flat block acrylic colour of the botanical work.  A nature-inspired work, the birchwood panel is set on a 24ct gold-leafed wood panel. Creating not only a painting but a sculptured piece of art.

Deborah Jones (British), graduated from Central St Martins with a Batchelor of Arts, and has had a previous career in interiors and design, including Osborne & Little and Harvey Nichols. Deborah recently exhibited her golden birds and koi oil paintings for a private event hosted by The King of Ashanti's nephew Yaw Mark Nkansah-Amoyaw. A Silver Jubilee Celebration for the King and his collectibles which are held at Windsor, The Wallace Collection and The V&A Museum. The event was held at The Womens University Club in Mayfair London. Her recent solo show at The Hyde Gallery, (Chiswick, London), exhibited a culmination of works from the Brazil, Exteriority, and California collections. Specialising in Printed Textiles Design, Jones utilises skills learned and puts them into her artwork. Often incorporating design, pattern, and repeat, with discrete elements showing. Jones draws inspiration from her travels throughout Brazil incorporating the tropical world to the botanical tranquillity of the English Countryside and Lakes. Featured in Tatler, Style & Decor, Suboart Magazine, Women United Art Magazine, and in curated collections with Saatchi Art. Also selling design work to Nike at Indigo. With a distinctive style, Jones uses a variety of mediums, such as oil, acrylic, spray paint, and gold leaf, paired with a passion for painting on birchwood, bringing her artwork closer to nature. Jones paints flora and fauna in a contemporary style, by stripping back the layers of nature and putting them back together again in an interesting way. Complimentary to her design background, each artwork is often characterised by the thoughtful incorporation of layering and intricate detailing. From the composition of the painting itself to custom framing, Jones ensures that each piece is meticulously structured and a vibrant talking point in any setting.
