About The Artwork
The room is the place where I was staying during half of the most intensive pandemic time. The other half I was staying at my studio. I was lost and alone. I felt angry and desperate. I did not like this new reality and I wanted to meet other people as before. I started to dislike my room. Everything inside it annoyed me. Over time the place which was the safest in the whole world for me changed into strange, unrealistic, and provoking anxiety. With time, I did not want anybody to visit me because I started to be afraid about it. The painting “the room II” is the reference to the painting “the room” which I created in 2018 r. On the painting from 2018 people are inside the room, inside the painting and they are real. On the painting “the room II” there is only illusion, shadow, and phantom of human silhouette.

It is all about communication. A person trying to understand one of its own species, but also one of another [a pet or a wild animal]. Relationships are building blocks of our life. A partner, a mother, a grandmother, a neighbor, an employer. More or less intimate, public, secret, for show or real. You can find that out if you look closely, it is in the gestures and poses, and looks. Look for them in my paintings, as I try to understand this language. It is not about a realistic portrait but rather capturing the essence. By meanings of shapes, I want to tell that kind of universal stories like love, abandonment, hate, suffering, and loneliness. I want to try and find a new solution for the most typical forms using my own, individual language.
