About The Artwork
This piece actually came from an art challenge by the American Society of Aviation Artists. The challenge was to render a Tiger Moth in a medium rarely used, or not at all, by the artist. I submitted a colored pencil of the Tiger Moth, then decided to do a larger painting using acrylics. The results was this De Havilland Tiger Moth entering an aerobatic maneuver. I traditionally work in oils, but decided to go with acrylics on this piece. I enjoy some of the effects acrylics allow, and how they maintain their chroma. I want the viewer to feel that sense of disorientation when they view the unique perspective of the horizon compared to the aircraft's attitude.
