Switzerland
Switzerland based Artist Ueli Kühni originally approached Art through textile and design in the early 70s. After specializing in both fields, he worked as an interior designer and a trade consultant in Switzerland. Early on, Ueli Kühni explored the power of colors through multiple sketches made in Europe, North Africa, the United States and Asia. On the occasion of his journeys, the ordinary becomes visible and that is where Ueli Kühni finds his subjects. A photograph does not satisfy his artistic thirst which led him to painting. Former student of renowned engraver Roger Briner in Bern, Ueli Kühni has his own studio since 2008 in Burgdorf where he has continuously been exploring the possibilities offered by watercolors and acrylic painting. In 2016 he obtained an Artist scholarship from the city of Burgdorf and the Städtekonferenz Kultur SKK (City Conference on Culture) for a six months residency in Cairo.
