Some people think they are God, and they walk up the tower to reach out to God, while the normal people like Snail, Alien, the poor humble robed man behind Snail, and the guys working on the boats watch from the bottom, knowing well that the fools are doing the wrong thing. The archangels Michael and Gabriel come down to tell the powerful rich fools off for trying to be God and trying to reach up to. The language is then changed and mixed up, confusing everyone. This artwork is part of the Wait of the World Series which informs and comments on corruption, examines power, mythology, religion, and history. The works presented encompass contemporary issues blended with biblical history. Chelle’s works cleverly intermingle the real and imaginary, while commenting on serious, contemporary issues. Fascinated by the constant existence of corruption in the world since the dawn of men, Chelle’s works use mythological half animal creatures roaming the planet to comment on man’s transformation over time – and the secrets that time herself keeps hidden from us… Experience Wait of the World and question religion, money, greed and power. Viewers would feel connections to parts of the Wait of the World story that informs of the changes and history. She uses the mediums watercolour, pen, ink, goauche to give the impressions of world changes, highlighting with colour the important subjects that join to the matters of Earth. Chelle Destefano, a Deaf artist, born in Melbourne and currently lives in Adelaide, South Australia.
