About The Artwork

An equestrian friend of mine was attacked by a horse while training him. I asked him what happened. He said "Given the circumstances, it's behavior was rational. It got afraid of new surroundings and it broke loose to try and get away from us.It only became aggressive when I approached it because it perceived me as a threat." That's rational and loyal behavior, I said! Sticking with someone against your self-interest, even when it hurts.Especially when it hurts. He responded - "I feel animals are more capable of loyalty. The thought process is linear. There is no confounding interest like we humans have. No ulterior motives. They're consistent." As I saw their relationship evolve, I started to think that while human beings are natural predators for the horse(or any animal), it is incredibly unique how these two creatures can learn to bond, to follow or lead one another, and to establish a partnership based on trust and pure, unconditional love. This incident had left a profound impact on me. And I decided to paint these friends.
