This is a digital Photograph, extremely limited edition print. Dimensions: 10 x 14 printed on archival paper with archival inks. Available in black and white or in a beige-orange-brown color similar to the original painted color of the metal sculpture. This photograph was taken in the Anza Borrego desert, the largest state park in California. It was sculpted by Ricardo Breceda and is called, The Jeep. Dennis Avery, the owner of the Galleta Meadows Estate decided to display free-standing art pieces to his massive property and hired Ricardo Breceda to create these amazing metal pieces. The Jeep is meant to give the viewer a look at an offroad presence reminiscent of this state park and the area surrounding it many years ago. The jeep is modeled after a 1946 Willy’s Cj-3A, which was one of the first Jeep models. I was more intrigued by the "dudes" riding the jeep in the desert than I was by the machine.

Born in Brooklyn, NY. I spent my professional years not as an artist but as a scientist and science educator in the New York metropolitan area. Upon retiring to San Diego, I became an artist, photographer, and art lecturer at the University of California at San Diego. Artists and scientists strive to see nature with a fresh eye. As a scientist turned artist, I now explore the inner richness of nature and the human form in a visual medium, looking for the structure underneath the surface, using the original colors our eyes combine together. I use a paintbrush, digital camera, and Photoshop to make artworks to empahsize the story behind the image. I try to convey vulnerability in people and express ideas in natural and man-made forms. And always, I look for beauty in unexpected, unlikely places. I give talks on art and science at Univ. of California at San Diego. Some recent titles: Portraits in Art and Photography: Psychological Insight into Subject and Artist; The Human Form: Everything Old is New Again: Folk Art in America: Tangible Expressions of our Heritage. My favorite subject is people and street art. In the last year, my work has vacillated between creating serene pieces, particularly watery, reflective scenes or depicting figures ensnared in their environment. This is my psychological response to the anxieties of the time and my desire to achieve tranquility.
