About The Artwork
Nangpa La is a glaciated pass between Nepal and Tibet at the end of this Himalayan valley, set at 20,000 feet high. While on assignment to cover the ancient salt trade for National Geographic magazine in this Thami Valley, closed to foreigners, I scouted for optimal places to shoot with my large format 5X7 camera using Kodachrome 64 film. This viewpoint of the valley captures the mystery and spiritual sense of adventure and transformation. My hope is the viewer can sense the pulse quickening effect of the unknown as they look into the landscape, imagining where they will go, and how they will change as a result. Epson UltraChrome HDR pigmented inks, and Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique 310 gsm paper was used for printing. Decorators, other sizes and prices available.
