"Anytime is Teatime" No.1 began life as a sketch of the interior of my dining-room dresser. I enjoy sitting at the table when I cannot think of anything to draw and make sketches of the cups, tea-pots and junk shop treasures crammed into this space.
This sketch was scanned into Adobe Illustrator where I experimented with colour effects. I feel the finished piece is reminiscent of the clean lines and colours of the 1950s. I am particularly pleased with the acid yellow background which, for some tastes, might appear garish. I found the whole experience of using digital packages and vectors very anxiety provoking and much preferred to experiment with the filling in/colour aspect.
Later, I made a screen print using only black and blue inked screens to develop the original sketch used for both No.1 and No.2.
