I am an avid beachcomber living in the Pacific Northwest. I spent countless hours combing Washington’s beaches in search of semi precious stones and Driftwood to make my sculptures with. In making this a bad humpback whale sculpture I used four pieces of Driftwood. First was a hardwood burl which I used to make the body and front fins, the second was a unique hook shaped branch which I used to make the tail, a branch of Maple for the post which gives the whale the appearance of floating in water and the last piece was for the base. Resin was used to attach the beautiful semi precious stones onto the base. I personally found and polished each stone which in my opinion are on their own works of art. There are many agates, Jasper, Jade, petrified wood, wish rocks and many other stones which were all found on Washington state beaches. Of the hundreds of sculptures I have made to date this is definitely one of my best pieces I Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you for viewing.
