About The Artwork

The sculpture comprises of two metal forms which are spot welded together to create a sense of being stitched like a piece of clothing. The dimensions of the largest form are stated above and the smaller form is h 15.7 x w 25.5 x d 4.8cm. The two forms can be placed in different positions in relationship to each other in response to the situation. Each part of the sculpture is cut from steel sheet using paper patterns developed from hand drawings. The steel is rolled and then fabricated. The surfaces are polished and waxed to create a protective and more reflective quality. The cut out sections are derived from drawings of my eye shape, that allow a view through the forms and a sense of the space within the sculpture. The space in between the forms, the natural light and shadow reflected from one form to the other are also important elements of the work.
