David W Jones

Since finishing art school in 1985 David Jones has been working and exhibiting widely in England, Spain, Portugal and France and as far afield as Japan.
His works have been acquired for many collections including;
Unilever Plc London and The Mirror Group Newspapers.
He was a finalist in the Lexmark European Art Prize last year.

His work is a transformation of images taken from everyday life. Images are reduced through a process of elimination to high contrast ghost-like scenes, which are painted in vibrant colours and frozen jewel-like in time.

He paints with oil on board and achieves a smooth and highly-finished surface through an economy of brush strokes and a complex system of layering. Strong atmospheres are created and held in the rich, deep glazes.

Through an elevation of the mundane the ordinary is instilled with meaning and given a new significance.
