I am Ismael Garcia Burillo, a multidisciplinary artist and craftsman originally from Spain raised and educated in Venezuela, with a blend of Pasiega and Asturian heritage. My journey in the world of art and craftsmanship began early, influenced by my family's background in traditional crafts such as woodworking and pottery. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to encounter numerous mentors and experiences that have shaped my artistic path, leading me to explore various mediums including painting, ceramics, and sculpture.
Driven by a deep curiosity for the intersection of art and spirituality, my work often reflects themes of introspection, transcendence, and the interconnectedness of all things. Drawing inspiration from surrealism, onirism, and the Bauhaus movement, I seek to create pieces that resonate on both aesthetic and metaphysical levels.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I am also a passionate educator, sharing my knowledge and skills with others through workshops and classes in ceramics, painting, and creative processes. My artistic journey began under the guidance of my parents, who instilled in me a love for craftsmanship and creativity from a young age. Throughout my life, I have pursued formal and informal education in various artistic disciplines, including:
-Apprenticeship in woodworking with my father.
-Instruction in painting and drawing from my mother.
-Mentorship with renowned artists such as Luis Rodriguez.
-Studies in fine arts at institutions like the Arturo Michelena Academy(unfinished) and Centro Piloto L.E.C.(unfinished).
-Continued exploration and self-directed learning in ceramics, painting, and sculpture
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of showcasing my artwork in a variety of exhibitions and shows, both nationally and internationally. Some notable highlights include:
