Alison Gilbert

Alison is an abstract painter and mixed media artist creating vibrant and joyful work. Based in beautiful Somerset in the UK, she trained originally as a textile designer. The emphasis on colour, pattern and texture, influences her painting style. Her process is to work spontaneously and intuitively, drawing on decades of visual memory for her inspiration. Paintings are created in multiple layers. This results in visual depth and surface interest close to, whilst the overall design is often bold with high contrast, making them also visually striking from a distance.
