Bobby Izquierdo

I am a fine art photographer based in Pittsboro, North Carolina. My work centers on still life light painting and architectural nightscapes. Working in darkness, I illuminate a scene over multiple long exposures and combine them into a final image that uses light and shadow to explore memory, time, and place.

After a 42-year career in electrical engineering, I am especially drawn to objects that carry the histories of work and invention. At the 2026 London Photography Awards, End of an Era: The Cathode Ray Tube received Gold; 71 Seconds to Midnight and Midnight Cuban Diaries received Honorable Mentions. I exhibit locally through the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts and the Chatham Artists Guild.

My photography practice has developed through independent study, sustained studio work, and instruction in still life light painting, including a workshop and private instruction with photographer Harold Ross. My background in electrical engineering informs my interest in light, optics, and the histories of the objects I photograph.
