Brigitta van Bilderbeek is a British-Dutch multidisciplinary artist based in Chelsea, London. Her painting practice explores perception, perspective, memory and the emotional experience of space.
Drawing on architecture, interiors and fragments of places encountered through travel and everyday movement, she creates abstract environments that sit between the familiar and the imagined. Strong perspectival lines and geometric structures are combined with expressive brushwork, texture and colour, allowing each painting to operate almost as an extension of the room in which it hangs.
Central to her practice is the idea of the canvas as an opening into another space. Her ongoing body of work, Perception of Perspective, considers how colour, distance and shifting viewpoints can alter our experience of an interior and invite the eye to travel beyond the physical surface of the painting.
