Vlasta Gary

Vlasta Gary is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation and photography. Trained in photography at the University of the Arts London, she initially developed a visual language centered on the body, identity, gender and perception through photographic series including Gender Play, Silk and Forbidden Fruit.

In recent years, her practice has expanded into spatial and site-responsive work exploring thresholds, reflection, time and transformation. Working with materials including reflective metal, blackened steel, stone, water, light and landscape, Vlasta develops sculptural forms and immersive environments that alter the viewer’s relationship to their surroundings.

Portals, apertures, mirrored surfaces and voids recur throughout the work—not as symbols with fixed meanings, but as perceptual devices through which the body, landscape and passage of time are temporarily reframed.

Her current practice moves between intimate sculptural objects and proposals for architectural-scale interventions, while photography remains part of a broader investigation into perception and constructed reality.
