Anastasia is an artist and architect. Her work has been influenced by the cities she has lived in; Athens, Edinburgh, Eindhoven, Venice, Portsmouth, London, as well as by her architectural background. She has studied art with Professors Sotiris Sorongas, Vasso Kiriaki, Vana Xenou, Dimitris Sevastakis, in the School of Architecture of the NTUA. _________________________________________ 'The trace is appearance of a nearness, however far removed the thing that left it behind may be. In the trace, we gain possession of the thing; in the aura, it takes possession of us.’ Walter Benjamin _________________________________________ My drawings attempt to explore the notion of nearness and immersion in a city/ a place/ an atmosphere, and at the same time the notion of distancing. My attempt is to create a very specific and precise atmosphere - as if one was experiencing a very specific and familiar place, and - at the same time - reveal nothing of the actual physicality of that place. _______________________________________
