Justice Soni-Onovo

I am contemporary artist that lives and is based in Nigeria. I have artistic style is characterized by a unique brush texture and predominantly brown, grey's, green's color palette. My style is also characterized by some painting methods like impasto, Dry brushing and ragging. My style shows clearly the brush strokes which creates distinct patterns of impressions which makes my work unique my work has been showcased in reputable exhibitions.
Artist Statement

Using vivid, sketchy and gestural strokes of muted acrylic paint on canvas which reflects the turbulence and complexity of my formative years, I express my thoughts and feelings on the themes of faith, struggle, mortality and the quiet resilience of the human spirit.

I incorporate several symbolic elements like slender dark figures with bulging watchful eyes, architectural elements such staircases, and symbolic doors. The bulging eye, fish eyes, staircase, and doors appears repeatedly as a symbol of divine awareness. It reflects the presence of a higher consciousness observing the fragile yet powerful journey of life. This merging of symbols reinforces my exploration of spirituality, divine presence, and the unseen forces guiding human destiny.

I have a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the Univerisity of Nigeria Nsukka. I plan furthering my education to get a masters degree in Visual/creative arts.
