RECOGNITION

After leaving King Alfred's School in north west London I attended Hammersmith Art school for a year when my parents move house to outside Waltham Abbey so I transfered to SW Essex technical college and school of art in Walthamstowe where I spent 5 years ending up with a National Diploma of Design in Painting and lithography. I then did 2 years in the Royal Army Education Corps as a National serviceman. When demobbbed I did a years teaching in a school in Ponders End and decided it wasn't for me and teemed up with 2 Mural painters and worked on various commissions of theirs until deciding to go on my own doing book jackets and illustration. I had a long period working for Macmillans publishers illustrating school books for African countries. Since then I've have done a variety of commissions for Parliament including sculpture posters and exhibition work. The last was a life size bronze of John Clare the poet now standing in a museum devoted to him in his old cottage at Helpstone near Peterboruogh.
