There’s a moment in the forest when everything slows — when the light softens and the air turns warm and gold. The Golden Quiet was painted to capture that sense of calm and balance. Kevin McKeown is a Western Australian artist and the creator of Chromatic Impressionism™. Kevin’s art is both an escape from the noise of modern life and an invitation to be fully present. In a world of constant scrolling, headlines, and distraction, his paintings offer a quiet space where the senses can rest and reconnect. Nature is where Kevin finds that stillness — walking through forests, watching light break through trees, or noticing the subtle tones of a quiet sky. Both the process of being in nature and the act of painting itself allow him to shut out the outside noise and focus on what matters: beauty. When Kevin first discovered Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, something shifted. He realised that beauty and colour weren’t superficial — they were timeless, essential. From that point on, he knew these would become the cornerstones of his work, even if it took years of experimentation to learn how to bring them forward. Through bold, complementary colours and layered brushwork, Kevin doesn’t try to recreate reality — he amplifies it. His paintings celebrate the way an artist sees the world: light dancing on form, unexpected hues hidden in everyday places, beauty waiting to be noticed everywhere. For Kevin, a successful painting is one that keeps calling the viewer back. It stirs something wordless — calm, connection, emotional truth. His work is deeply personal, a form of self-expression that feels more authentic than trying to paint what others expect. And yet, even as self-expression, his art is created in service of the viewer. Each canvas is an offering: a place to pause, breathe, and remember that beauty is not outdated or cliché, but as necessary now as it has ever been. Alongside his current Chromatic Impressionist originals and prints, Kevin also offers a small selection of prints of earlier sold works — collector favourites that represent the foundations of his practice.
