082124 update - My earliest memories of making art were my early school years, 1st - 3rd grade, watching colors from crayons and watercolors dance with reflections from the light across rough bumpy paper 😊 I'm still working with that fascination, alternating between smooth and rough, lines and blocks of color. It's best to say, at nearly 74 years of age, I'm finally beginning to accept I don't like doing only fields of color, or line-work, or abstract or representational. So here at Saatchi Art, I present my smorgasbord of work in differing mediums or styles - but I do think what has always persisted is - my sense of awe with life - internal, external, and mingled. Please feel free to contact me with and questions 🙏😊❤️
Memorial Elementary Houston, George Washington Jr Hi, graduated high school at John H. Reagan in Houston; now more aptly and appropriately named Heights High School; reaching captain of one of 2 companies of cadets via ROTC. Associated of Arts at University of Houston Downtown via my GI Bill benefits, followed by a BA and MAs at University of Houston Clear Lake in theatre and literature. It was like I was too timid and protective to test applying my desire for art in a formal setting - in hindsight, probably a mix of both lost opportunities and preservation of the art inside. In the 80s, under John Stovall, I did finally take art classes, ungraded, ie audit, afterwards, at Galveston College. The atmosphere was extremely encouraging and helpful.
