Seppo Tanninen

Born 9.6.1948 Alavus, Finland

In my paintings the pictorial 'picture' is a foreign and a futile element. As a painter I don't consider myself a picture-maker. When I paint I don't exploit the nature even though I am surrounded by it, thrown into it, inspired by it. I don't simplify, I don't cover things, I don't reduce. My paintings are holes which through 'uncovered' reality may flow. Nothing is hidden.
