Adrian Eckersley

Mostly, I paint the urban wilderness, in an attempt to understand it. I believe that we don't often really see what's out there: it's all shrouded under a grey cloak of familiarity. Getting beyond that is one of the things that artists are for. I want to see the glory, and the banality, and I want others to see them too.

Visually I'm mostly self taught, though I did gain an A level in art a lifetime or so ago. But I'm educated in other ways: I studied English literature at Cambridge (UK) and have a Ph.D.
