Borja Oliván

Spanish multidisciplinary artist, born in Madrid, 1982.



I’ve been drawing and painting from a young age and worked in the field of graphic design and photography. It wasn’t till 2015 when I decided to dedicate myself completely to my art.



My ouevre is an investigation on sexuality, the construction of gender, emotions and human ambivalence. Black and white are protagonists in my pieces, representing opposing poles that overlap. My use of color provides the grays that exist between these extremes. Deconstructing figurative representation through abstraction allows me to express the complexities of what it means to be alive in these troubled times. I invite the public to become a true observer, questioning the reality that surrounds us and the precepts that define us.
