“I create convergent media art that celebrates the values of rural life and of the land itself, that fosters a sense of self-empowerment, self-love, self-representation, community, and the strengths of traditional cultures.
My work explores the relationship between both high and low technology cultures, ethnic and class identities, shamanic tourism, and an expanding sense of the natural and supernatural worlds.
As a verbal and visual storyteller, I strive to commit my rich and varied life experiences to canvas and paper, sharing the ceremonial life of indigenous communities in both normal and visionary time, and exploring concepts of strength and vulnerability through treatments of my royal, noble, and humble ancestors.
What starts out as contemplation becomes, I hope, a portal for the viewer to briefly enter another reality, leaving only a sense of a picture album of the road not taken and a eulogy for the self-imposed limits of our existence.”
