Drew Labone

Born on June 17, 1985, in Naples, Italy, Andrea Villanis, known professionally as Drew.Lab_One, is a Berlin-based urban artist celebrated for her innovative fusion of semi-realistic portraiture and abstract calligraphy. Her artistic journey commenced at the age of 13 in experimental theater, where she cultivated a deep passion for portraiture and the expressive potential of the human form.​

Pursuing studies in modern philology, Drew.Lab_One developed a profound appreciation for the power of language and words. This academic background seamlessly intertwined with her artistic endeavors, leading her to explore the realms of classical calligraphy. Engaging in a meditative practice of scripts such as Roman Capital, Uncial, Copperplate, and Gothic, she eventually transcended traditional letterforms to craft a unique typographic style that bridges historical traditions with contemporary expression. ​

Her distinctive approach amalgamates elements from four diverse calligraphic traditions:​
