Raya Herzig

Born in Kartuzy, Northern Poland, childhood was war and camps. Of the whole family only Raya and her sister survived. After the war the life of a displaced person in Sweden, Switzerland, Italy and Switzerland again. Became Swiss citizen. Moved to Britain in 1990. Became British subject. Lives in Exeter, Devon.
War had interrupted all education. Started to paint in 1970 without formal training after a visit to the places of childhood in Poland. Her art draws from the same source dreams do. Many of her pictures are of the kind you only can see with your eyes closed.
Member of VISARTE (Association of Swiss Artists). Member of APA (Association of Polish Artists in Britain).

Self-taught but soon recognized as professional artist. Member of Association of Swiss Artists (VISARTE) and Association of Polish Artists in Britain (APA). About 30 solo shows and numerous group-exhibitions since 1971, in Switzerland, Great Britain, France, Poland, Germany, Czechia, Japan, USA,
