Steve Danielson

I am a painter/explorer of the quiet corners of domestic life. I find inspiration in the familiar but often overlooked moments of everyday life and seek to create tender portraits and intimate interiors of the contemporary home. Every painting is a journey that begins with an impulse that I explore, making adjustments in content, composition and color as I delve deeper into the process and my emotional response to it until I come at last to place where I find a balanced tension between all the elements – my ultimate goal is to create both beauty and meaning in each piece.

Steve has studied painting, sculpture, and printmaking at the Art Students League of New York. He completed a residency at the School of Visual Arts and has an MFA in film making from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.

Born in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Lives and works in New York City.
