Bob Richardson

I was born and raised in New Jersey but like many kids in the sixties I migrated West .. to Colorado, California and finally New Mexico where I’ve lived ever since.
I’ve always painted but couldn’t afford to paint full time.So I started a business, worked really hard and sold it years later and have painted full time for the last 16 years. .
Early in life I painted abstraction. it seemed like the way to go. … fast and emotional but I kept doing more and more figurative work…. painting snapshots of people . People caught in a moment of time. How exciting to find and paint a personality.

My early art education was at the Art Student’s League. I had the good fortune to study life drawing under Tom Fogarty and painting with Enest Fiene.
Undergraduate work at Bard college and later studied with Lee Rommel, Kevin Gorges and Tony Ryder.
