Deborah Boardman

Deborah Boardman (Salem, Massachusetts, 1958) is Chicago based artist. She has shown her work widely in Chicago area and nationally, including New York, Boston and the Czech Republic. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including an Illinois Visual Artist Fellowship in 2000. Recent activities include The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Second International Biennale for the Artist's Book, the Picturing Death Project at the Portage District Library, Michigan, co-sponsored by Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, and a 2005 exhibition of paintings and gouaches with Gescheidle Gallery, Chicago. She is currently Adjunct Associate Professor in Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

What I value most in making art is the experience of energetic connection. My painting and installation practice of the past ten years form an exploration of the site of artistic practice as a pole or a point where small and everyday painting practices can accumulate and build to a sense of communion with others and on to infinity.
