Ralph Whitehead

Ralph Whitehead is a London based fashion, portrait and fine art photographer with a love of painterly and ethereal moods.

His fashion work has featured in numerous fashion magazines and his abstract photography has been exhibited in several exhibitions across London. More recently he has exhibited a new and distinct style of chemically manipulated portraits.

Ralph’s work is atmospheric, mysterious and dreamy with an emphasis on mood over fine detail. Whether a fashion portrait or portraying an abstract concept his work always aims to probe the layers beneath the surface.

His abstract photography has exhibited work across London and his self published book, ‘technicolor dreams’ featured in the artist book fair at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts.

Originally trained in physics and mathematics, Ralph's photography is the product of years of research in materials and techniques. He shoots entirely analogue and hand prints all of his own work in the darkroom often using ancient victorian printing techniques for some of his more avant guard fashion and portrait work.
