Stephan Glicken

I'm a retired physician, born in Newark, NJ and currently residing in Northeast PA, in Beaver Meadows. I've always had an interest in art from throughout history, but have been more focussed on painting for the past 50 years. I am currently a co-owner and gallerist of Greenleaf Gallery and Gift Shop in Beaver Meadows, PA. Prior to a 2 year hiatus due to CoViD, we had new shows every two months showing artists from North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

I am self-taught and independently study art history and technique. I attended Dartmouth College with a degree cum laude in English Literature in 1970 and went on to medical school and specialized in Pediatrics, plus a certificate in ASL and Deaf Culture. Initially I focussed on photography with interest in abstract photography and figurative work. I have done work in glass fusion. During the past 3 years I took up mainly acrylic painting, focussing on portraiture, abstractions, and allegorical works. I intend soon to begin teaching painting to a senior age group. I recently added ink drawing and watercolor to my options and want to learn tempera painting.
