Janet Read born in Toronto, Ontario. Works as a poet, painter and musician.
Rich colourful abstraction. Artist residency in Newfoundland and travel in Ireland prompted Ocean as Vessel series. Recent public gallery shows with catalogue, Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Whitby Station Gallery, Gallery Stratford and the F.H. Varley Gallery in Markham. Shows in Quebec and Ontario in last five years.
Howard Hodgkin and Sean Scully are heroes.
Read completed an MA in aesthetic philosophy on the work of visual and verbal metaphor in Paul Ricoeur and Merleau Ponty.
